Did you see us at the Volunteer Expo?

Residential Options of Florida (ROOF) had the opportunity to attend the “2019 Get Involved Collier Volunteer Expo” on October 21st. The Volunteer Expo would not have been possible if it was not for the work of The Leadership Collier Foundation and the partnership with the United Way of Collier County, the Community Foundation, and Greater Naples Leadership.
At the event, community members had the ability to learn more about opportunities to volunteer in our community. ROOF was one of fifty local non-profit organizations within Collier County that were in attendance at the expo. “The expo gave us an opportunity to network with volunteers and other nonprofits about our needs and our mission,” said one ROOF representative.
There was a large turnout at the event and many Collier residents displayed interest in assisting with the mission of ROOF. A variety of people walked up to the table and mentioned how they had a loved one with an intellectual disability and were looking for affordable housing for them as they grew older. Some people walked up to the table and did not understand the challenges individuals with developmental disabilities face when it comes to housing. We were able to educate them that organizations like ROOF make it possible for these individuals to live independent lives just like everyone else! At ROOF, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to attend these events so that people may learn about opportunities for themselves or loved ones within ROOF. We look forward to attending next year and we hope to see an event larger turnout.
Do you have a passion to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? At ROOF we are looking for volunteers to assist with the book keeping of finances, individuals to volunteer their time to perform simple lawn care tasks, and volunteers in the office to assist with phone calls and data entry. Ensuring the comfort and happiness of our residents is our main priority at ROOF, and we would love your help!
