Join the ROOF family and live in beautiful Collier County!

Residential Options of Florida (ROOF) is excited to announce the availability of affordable housing options for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Collier County. ROOF has single-occupancy bedrooms available for rent in Immokalee’s Arrowhead Reserve neighborhood.

Located in the heart of Immokalee, both Liberty Place and Independence Place provide a safe haven for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. With access to a community pool, parks, public library, restaurants, and a prevalent Special Olympics chapter, ROOF residents are given the opportunity to engage with the community every day. ROOF’s tenants are also able to enroll in vocational classes through Immokalee Technical College (iTech). Immokalee Collier Area Transportation (CAT) provides public transportation throughout Immokalee and Collier county which allows ROOF residents to travel within the county limits.

With rent as low as $231 a month, individuals receiving SSI or SSDI can afford to live independently. All ROOF homes feature new appliances, granite countertops, washer and dryer, and are fully ADA accessible. Applicants must be income-qualified, have documentation of an intellectual or developmental disability, and be eligible for services through the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD).

Once residents are established in the home, ROOF can refer them for help with employment and benefits planning. With these services, residents can find employment while keeping the benefits that allow them to be independent. “In this way, housing is the first step toward increased income, self-sufficiency, and long-term stability, all of which can greatly contribute to the quality of our residents’ lives,” says Sheryl Soukup, Executive Director.

The mission of ROOF is to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to successfully obtain and maintain affordable and inclusive housing of their choice. ROOF is set to open its sixth supported living home, Liberty Place Naples, in November. ROOF homes promote independence for adults with developmental disabilities in Collier County and increase quality of life through affordable supported living options.
