ROOF Honors Founding Board Members Dr. Frank Nappo and Renee Edwards

ROOF’s Annual Strategic Planning Retreat held in January, was anything but ordinary this year. Two founding Board Members, Dr. Frank Nappo and Renee Edwards, each accepted the invitation to serve as an Emeritus Board Member, a position that conveys special honor and leadership responsibilities. Dr. Nappo and Edwards have each served six years as a member of the Board since ROOF’s inception in 2014, and are pioneers who have contributed invaluable services and resources.

Frank and Renee share ROOF’s vision that every community in Florida will have an abundance of housing choices that meet the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their knowledge and experience have guided ROOF through its early history and many of its accomplishments. Each member has cemented many connections within the community and has expanded the resources available to ROOF today.

When asked about the importance that ROOF serves in the community, Dr. Nappo said, “The future is inclusive and ROOF’s continuous work will provide independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This organization has made large leaps and bounds since it first started, and it will be my honor to continue to be a part of it.” Edwards said, “It has been my honor to work as a part of ROOF from its beginning. As the parent of a young man with disabilities, and a professional who coordinates services for persons with disabilities, I am grateful to have an organization such as ROOF working on housing goals in Florida. Experiencing the need first-hand is a perspective that I enjoy sharing within ROOF’s process for reaching our mission and vision.” Because of the tremendous efforts of both Dr. Frank Nappo and Renee Edwards, ROOF now operates six supportive living homes in Southwest Florida.
