ROOF Receives $7,500 Grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation

Residential Options of Florida (ROOF) is pleased to announce it has received a $7,500 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation in support of the organization’s new Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA) program. The grant will support ROOF’s mission to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to successfully obtain and maintain affordable and inclusive housing of their choice.

The TBRA program will make housing affordable for low-income residents with developmental disabilities. ROOF will provide financial assistance and case management for qualified tenants with disabilities in Collier County so they can afford to rent a home for no more than 30% of their gross income. A case manager will be appointed to help each tenant (or households that include a person with a disability) develop a self-sufficiency plan that addresses the development of life skills, employment skills, and financial literacy skills. The program is scheduled to launch on October 1, 2020.

“With the support from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation, we are able to expand our services and help empower individuals with disabilities to be leaders and independent thinkers,” said Sheryl Soukup, CFRE, Executive Director of ROOF.

ROOF’s TBRA program will assist Collier County’s efforts to address the needs of low-income persons and families, including persons with disabilities.
