Sheryl Soukup


Sheryl Soukup, Executive Director

ROOF is staffed by Executive Director Sheryl Soukup. Soukup helped form ROOF while working as a consultant with the Florida Inclusive Housing Task Force of the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council. Soukup is the President of Soukup Strategic Solutions, a consulting firm specializing in fundraising, strategic planning, board development and nonprofit management. Prior to founding Soukup Strategic Solutions, Soukup was employed for fifteen years by nonprofits, ten of those years as the chief executive.

Soukup has served in a variety of nonprofit leadership roles in Florida and Massachusetts, including service on boards and committees at the local and statewide level. Soukup is a graduate of Leadership Collier (2008) and the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council Partners in Policymaking (2004). Her work was recognized by the National Association for Community Development with the Audrey Nelson Community Development Achievement Award (2010). Soukup was a recipient of the Women of Achievement Award from the Collier County Chapter of the American Association of University Women (2010) and the Citizen of the Year Award from the Lee County Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (2005). In 2012 Soukup was recognized by Gulfshore Business in “The Influential’s: 29 of Southwest Florida’s Most Powerful Women.” Soukup moved to Florida in 2002 from Boston, where she worked for Children’s Hospital Boston and Harvard Children’s Initiative. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from the University of Massachusetts.

Dr. Louis Traina

Dr. Louis Traina, Chief Advancement Officer

Dr. Louis Traina serves as the Chief Advancement Officer for Residential Options of Florida (ROOF). Lou has served in public and private nonprofit enterprises in Southwest Florida for over 27 years holding positions of advancement vice president, foundation executive director, and campus president.

Lou has led campaigns for Florida SouthWestern State College, Hodges University, Healthcare Network, Ave Maria University, and the Diocese of Venice.

Lou is an experienced fundraiser, community leader, and top administrator. Lou is an expert in the acquisition of major gifts and primary solicitor for the naming of one university, one sports arena, and three academic schools. His passion for fundraising serves as a vehicle for enhancing the presence of nonprofits and allowing organizations to achieve their missions.

Early in his career, he worked as a Rehabilitation Counselor and Staff Psychologist caring for mental health, spinal cord trauma, and addiction recovery patients. His previous roles help him understand the needs of ROOF residents to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Dr. Traina holds a Doctorate in Education, Adult and Higher Education from Columbia University as well as a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling and a B.A. in Arts of Psychology. Collectively, his knowledge and experience allow him to provide ROOF residents with the support they need.


Zania Ledwidge

Zania Ledwidge, Resident Services Coordinator

Zania Ledwidge serves as Resident Services Coordinator for Residential Options of Florida (ROOF). She is zealous about person-centered planning and advocacy. With over 20 years of experience working in the health and human services non-profit industry, Zania has demonstrated repeated success at leading cross-functional teams to develop and maintain systems that meet compliance standards and executive needs.

Zania earned her B.A. degree in Psychology from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Her career history demonstrates a results-oriented business approach in addition to strong communication and leadership skills. She prides herself on being an organized and dependable professional, a collaborative team player, and a creative problem solver with expertise in team building and strategic planning.

Zania moved from Long Island, New York to Florida in 2018. She relishes warm sunny days and beach excursions, relaxing with a cup of tea, novice interior decorating, volunteering, and watching educational documentaries.
